Space-time blending

چکیده
Shape transformation between objects of different topology and positions in space is an open modeling problem. We propose a new approach to solving this problem for two given 2D or 3D shapes. The key steps of the proposed algorithm are: increase dimension by converting two input kD shapes into half-cylinders in (k+1)D space-time, applying bounded blending with added material to the half-cylinders, and making cross-sections for getting intermediate shapes under the transformation. The additional dimension is considered as time coordinate for making animation. We use the bounded blending set operations in space-time defined using R-functions and displacement functions with the localized area of influence applied to the functionally defined half-cylinders. The proposed approach is general enough to handle input shapes with arbitrary topology defined as polygonal objects with holes and disjoint components, set-theoretic objects, or analytically defined implicit surfaces. The obtained unusual amoeba-like behavior of the shape combines metamorphosis with the non-linear motion.

Velocity Blending for Real - Time Trajectory
This paper presents a new velocity blending approach to the problem of task space trajectory generation. To compare this technique with others, a generalized formulation for task space trajectory blending is also developed. It is shown that task space velocity blending provides a substantial simpliication in both representation and computational complexity over previously proposed methods. Whil...

متن کاملPseudo Dynamic Keyframe Animation with Motion Blending on the Connguration Space of a Moving Mechanism
This paper presents an eeective way of generating and controlling dynamic motions of a multi-linked body system while interpolating given boundary conditions. The basic idea is based on smoothly blending two dynamic motion curves in the Connguration space of a moving mechanism. Given a time interval t 1 ; t 2 ], two motion curves C 1 (t) and C 2 (t), t 1 t t 2 , are generated by physical simula...
متن کاملCreativity as Pastiche: A Computational Model of Dynamic Blending and Textual Collage, with Special Reference to the Use of Blending in Cinematic Narratives
The theory of blended spaces of Fauconnier and Turner (1994,1998), also known as the many-space model of conceptual integration, is a bold new theory in cognitive science that unifies metaphor, analogy, metonymy and conceptual combination within a framework of interconnected mental spaces. Through an analysis of cinematic pastiche, a form of creative reuse and structural blending in the develop...
متن کاملTernary blending operations
We discuss new analytical formulations for localized and controllable blending operations in the functionbased solid modeling. The blending set operations are defined using R-functions and displacement functions with the localized area of influence. The shape and location of the blend are controlled by an additional bounding solid thus turning the operation into a ternary one. We also describe ...
